You have accumulated a treasure of memories, lessons and surely a playlist of amazing music from the past year 2022. But it has not gone exactly the same as years before that.
You have seen your closest friends getting married, and you attended few of those. Life makes you earn it. Although you could not attend all, but that’s only fair. You make it up next time when they have kids.
The immediate years preceding 2022, if to be put mildly, were a trauma for all of us. COVID had churned out our hard earned wellness. 2022 helped us breathe the free air and bring the light. From this chaos, we have learned great deal about our inner selves, appreciated mental health. It is reflecting in work places as well, as people seek beyond regular pay.
All the more, we are not submissive or accommodating any more. We have grown a strong fundamental of our likes, dislikes. Our appreciation has come more honest and is defining the global taste. Our movies RRR and Pushpa have become global delights. We stepped into rap genre of music and have profoundly #hustled it up!
Apart from soothing talks, let’s see good facts too
We have come a long way as a Nation as well. One article cannot bottle in all that we have achieved in 2022. Basic facilities in schools have immensely developed. Drinking water and 2 / 3 gender specific toilets are installed in majority of 10.26 lakhs Government schools. More recent, under Jal Jeevan Mission tap water supply were installed at 8,39,443 schools. Hence, enrollments at all levels, viz. upper - primary, secondary and upper secondary have improved and reversed the declining trends in 2017-2020. The Government measures these aspects with Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER). So, kudos, to both you and me.
We need to be careful and not waste food. To give perspective, I have listed changes in tables below. In Figure 1, the numbers show that sown area have not increased in the rate other parameters have excelled. There is a considerable dependency on these farm lands.
In Figure 2, increase in sown area and population is compared to assess true surplus of grains. In present day, only 10 % of seasonal crop is kept in cold storage, and entirely sold commercially. Hence, the calculation below is very lenient, so route through to the outcome below with diligence.
We are aware of the increase in agro-processing industries. Increased enterprise diverts part of the grain into production sectors such as medicine, sugar, liquor, cosmetics and bio-fuels. Available figures show at any given time, we have a grain bank twice as big as our population. Any moment, food is cooked and we skip eating it twice, someone in India will starve. So, this year lets not skip meals and eat wisely.
As 2022 has gone by, we have sailed through once in a century crisis, we are more aware of regional conflicts, we are seeing more of digital currency, more of other sports. We are living a life less ordinary, as we aspire more for our Country, we seek more of our Government, preserve the nature and communities.
May we journey into this year with more hope, and leave 2023 having much more achieved.
