I hope this note finds you well. It has been really encouraging to see your response to the notes that I am able to craft and I am hopeful these articles and notes bring clarity to relevant issues. This article is about the chaos in the world and by the end of this article we should be able to identify a way to sail past this chaos.
What causes chaos?
As an individual, we have our own take-away looking at issues around us. We have the freedom to access information, analyze and interpret our assessments. However, we as individuals may not comprehend all the information. At times we observe information with a sub-conscious bias. We start to view the world with a wrong assumption and then keep looking at clues to further collaborate our assumptions.
Then comes the role of influencers on social media and news publications. We must recognize these set of individuals labelled as influencers or those working in the news media emerge from our societies. Not all such individuals and news media publications are run by a process-oriented mechanism, but with simplistic strategies with a given thought of mere 5 minutes. There interpretation of any issue and our acceptance to their interpretations will surely lead to more chaos.

How do we solve the chaos?
Every chaos is like a crime, which needs to be solved. To solve the chaos, we need to understand and absorb the narrative of both ends. There is a perspective of the victim, and there’s a perspective of the oppressor. Note for thought, those who find their share of benefit in calling someone as a victim or an oppressor, will act accordingly to suit their benefit. As we go ahead, we should assess few popular subjects of chaos and try solving those.

Nonetheless, we must appreciate the vast sacrifice and labor our security forces undergo to preserve the sovereignty of our nation. However, keeping their efforts in mind, we should also note that we have not faced any loss of life at the India-China Border after we established broad trade relations and deterrent nuclear power. It is primarily because of the trade relations. We have to observe that despite Pakistan and India being nuclear power themselves, risks of conflict have never gone down.
The India-Pakistan border is a good example to establish the point. We do not have any commercial linkages with Pakistan, that’s why a conflict between these two nations is a reality. As an Indian, everyone has accepted the India-Pakistan relationship as a reality and does not care to find a solution because they do not perceive this to be a problem. If only India Pakistan trade relationship could flourish, Indian sub-continent could thrive more than it is today.
The recent India-China sentiment is not a one-day event. It is an outcome of years of wrong perceptions and inaction from both countries, to till date. We have continued to believe that our trade relations with China is our weakness. It is certainly true that we are a net importer from China. However, does being an importer make the nation vulnerable. Definitely, yes. But a country can flourish economically only when they provide value for money. Apart from the strategic sectors and industries, all other sectors should provide value for money, whether they are produced in our country or abroad. We as consumers, should also look at it from an economical perspective, not from a social perspective. At the end of the day, if making a product in India turns out to be costly for Indians, will our consumer support that?

Illustration two: The Post COVID-19 global economy will be more localized
The perceived chaos was that production facilities had intentions to move out from China to alternate destinations due to the impact of COVID-19. In fact, none of the production facilities have shifted their base from anywhere in any part of the world due to COVID-19. The global supply chain is holding its ground. As evident, no substantial movement of production facilities has taken place due to COVID-19. We should understand that a competent company and an organized economy has the mechanisms of Force Majeure in place to cater to such acts of God.

As governments around the world are building up to mitigate risks of COVID-19, we as individuals should enable ourselves to adapt and be able to contribute more effectively in the post COVID-19 period. Barring those sectors which are entirely digitized, remote operations are only a temporary measure. However, in these exposed sectors, human resources are the only available resources which will have to do more and adapt to keep those sectors running. Since the physical infrastructure and ability to resume production remains intact, a standstill cannot be considered as losses for a company. Therefore, the only way for us to keep ourselves relevant in any economy is by contributing with a higher value at the given money. Today, the most vulnerable jobs are the one which do not contribute significant value.

Any chaos we come across, impacts us socially and economically. We should be able to investigate the issues from those aspects without any bias. As the world economy finds ways to revive, we need to adapt and be able to provide economically viable solutions to stay relevant and competitive. Even though the social stigma remains for a longer term and affects our decision making for a longer time, we need to adapt on that front as well. i am certain that each one of us is able to identify the underlining philosophy to assess the facts to nail the chaos and find the order we need.
Hope to see you soon. Happy Hunting!
